It is no doubt that we all just sometimes get bored. Remember the old times when our grandparents listened to radios in the absence of television, social media or the internet? After a long day when we unfortunately didn’t have time to enjoy a good book, how many of us reach for our phones and headphones? I think even the most passionate readers would have difficulty to make that choice sometimes. Good news is today you can both learn and have fun at the same time without reading. Here is the modified 21st century radios; The World of Podcasts.

The very first radio broadcast was performed in 1898. Since then our older generations were very familiar until they became outdated with the invention of their advanced version; podcasts. Podcasts have been on stream for over a decade but they became a phenomenon in recent years. Podcasts came about because of Apple, iTunes and iPods. Apple brought podcasting to iTunes in 2005. Before podcasts we had radios, with ads interrupting all the time where we had no freedom to choose what we want to listen to. But with podcasts you can download shows, listen to them whenever you want and you can subscribe to these shows you like to never miss an episode. Plus podcasts are also very accessible and free of charge. All these factors along with many others led to the great demand for podcasts.

Everyone has podcasts these days; influencers, celebrities, journalists, random friends… It is very hard to differentiate the good input in this pool. Here are 5 podcasts I think you may enjoy these days. Enjoy!

5)TIM KEY’S LATE NIGHT POETRY PROGRAMME

Finally comedy podcasts are an absolute must! There’s a new series of the very loosely poetry-related radio show in which Key – who you’ll know from This Time with Alan Partridge, among other things – bounces off his Freeze and Cowards sketch partner Tom Basden and his wife Megan, played by Katy Wix. The usual bickering and aggravation ensue, except his time they’re trapped in a cable-car somewhere in Norway, and Tim’s accountant is after him.
