It is a young local radio station based on the European Metropolis of Lille (MEL) which was created in October 2016 and then housed in the premises of Radio Campus Lille and incubated since September 2019 within the ecological association Green Wheels. Cultural programs “Cultural Shows” animated on social networks in parallel with the radio waves, have been a great success with a dozen countries auditory visited around the world. The only French media offering content in the 3 most spoken languages in the world 1 (French, English, Spanish) its strength lies in its openness and diversity.
It is in the student community that the young station becomes known as more and more students, especially international students, come to talk about their culture in the studios. It’s an opportunity to get together in expatriate communities to introduce people to their culture while interacting live with listeners/followers on social networks. Many families and friends of the students follow the live shows on the other side of the world: it is always an emotional moment to see students in the studios with their headphones and microphone to talk about subjects they master at their fingertips. Following the craze for the show entitled “The Expats” many student associations also wanted to talk about the causes they defend and it was the turn of entrepreneurs and start-ups to come and talk about them, and then to the traders.
The entrepreneurship programs allowed every entrepreneur who spent in the studios to get his business off the ground by offering not boring advertisements to sell but information about the various activities developed by the inhabitants of the MEL.
Being one of à the only media that allows its guests total freedom of speech, it is only natural that the students (mostly international) most of the university residences of the CROUS chose it to spread their messages, talk about their problems and their events. During the COVID-19crisis, while many other media are idling, the broadcasts have not only helped to support the organization of craft mask sewing teams across the Hauts-de-France; but also in many other departments thanks to the help of the Italian network “6000 Sardines”: a fine example of international solidarity! FRL subsequently accelerated the collection of donations from the CROUS prize pool in Lille for food aid for students of the residences throwns further into precarious conditions by the health and economic crisis. In addition to the 12,776 euros raised (8000 euros after the issue) FRL has raised 1300 meal trays offered by a caterer from the European Metropolis of Lille. Associations such as “The Restoration of the Heart”, “The People’s Aid”, interviewss with the so-called “frontline” professions, analysess of the economic crisis, investments and the dissemination of drawingss of thanks are all topics that have been discussed to allow all the local population of the MEL to express themselves at a time when isolation and precariousness have never made this word so necessary and indispensable. The entrepreneurship programs have also helped to accelerate the enthusiasm of entrepreneurs for this Radio which has naturally proposed again to all entrepreneurs who wish to make themselves more widely known to schedule their communication in order to restart their activity in the wake of the COVID19 crisis.. Fire Radio Lille now has its owns studio and is continuing its search for funding in order to continue to embody its role as a media platform allowing the freedom of speech of the inhabitants of the MEL, especially the young French and international disadvantaged in its special solidarity programs. A permanent food drive is organized in Croix in a form of solidarity barter running on the principle of “1 washable cloth mask offered – 1 food donation”. A partnership is in development with the Summer International Academy of the University of Lille.
It is ultimately a cosmopolitan and multicultural radio where sharing also allows learning, whether it is foreign language, history, international cultural sociology, economics, entrepreneurship and many other things, on a humor fund that keeps listeners addicted to programs, whether they are followed live or offline.
